Our Darkest Day- My 9/11 Tribute
I have chosen to repost this each year so yes, you've seen pretty much this exact post on here before. *wink* I don't do this to get attention for my poem but just as my own small way of reminding myself and anyone who reads this to remember, learn, and honor our heroes not just from that day but everyday.
This is a poem I wrote eight years ago today as I watched the events of 9/11 unfold. I'm afraid it's a very raw poem and not very "professional" but it was my heart that day. My heart hurt for those who had so suddenly lost loved ones, hatred took root as I wondered what kind of monsters could be that sick and demented, and fear took hold as I worried if my children were now suddenly in danger.
"Our Darkest Day" was published a year later in the book "911: The Day America Cried". All proceeds benefit the Todd Beamer Foundation & I am proud to say I did not receive a single penny of any of it! :)

I was that wife sitting by the phone for 3 long hours... then I got a strange call from a secretary from another law firm... SHE told me he was okay...
What a long day that was for us.. and for everyone.
Thanks for your poem
It really was a sad and dreary moment for all. I guess we also need to move on and savor every waking days we have. I also hope time will give justice to this incident.
My friend's daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2002 and the doc told her that her daughter only had a year to live. Well, it's been seven years and her daughter is healthy and living today. The tumor has shrunk to a tiny size. I think prayers and positive attitude play a big role in the healing process. Glad to hear your blessed outcome!
I was sitting in my Gr. 9 English class when my teacher made the announcement and we watched on TV as the buildings fell. We had an assembly that afternoon where one teacher basically stated that this could be the beginning of World War 3. Crazy day.
